Vice-Admiral Alexandre Rabello de Faria joined the Brazilian Navy in 1981 at the Naval College. In January 1984, he began his Officer Training Course at the Naval School and was declared Ensign in 1987.

During his career of over 40 years in the Brazilian Navy, he was awarded with several civil and military decorations in recognition of his work. He served in different Ships and Military Organizations, with emphasis on the Navy’s General Directorate of Materiel; Surface Force Command (Commander); Naval Operations Command (Chief of Staff); and Navy Program Management Directorate (Director).

He accumulated operative experience during approximately seventeen years on board, having performed more than 800 days of operation at sea. Appointed to the commands of the Patrol Ship “Graúna”, based in Natal-RN; of the Offshore Tugboat “Almirante Guillobel”, based in Rio de Janeiro-RJ; and of the Aircraft Carrier “São Paulo”, also based in Rio de Janeiro-RJ. In command of the ships and the performance of functions in the General Staff of naval groups, Naval District Command, Fleet Command in Chief and Naval Operations Command, he accumulated relevant experience in the planning, execution and supervision of operations and activities related to the application of naval power for maritime protection, maritime security, maritime rescue and salvage, support of public authorities to coastal and riverside communities, preservation of ecosystems, biodiversity and natural resources and fight against illicit activities in Brazilian jurisdictional waters. 

He took several academic and professional refresher courses such as: Machines Specialization Course; General Staff Course for Senior Officers (C-EMOS) of the Brazilian Navy; and the Maritime Policy and Strategy Course (C-PEM) of the Brazilian Navy, at the Naval War College. Simultaneously to the C-EMOS and C-PEM, he took a Master Bussiness Administration Course (MBA) in Business Management and in International Management, respectively, by the Administration Graduate and Research Institute of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (COPPEAD-UFRJ)

In 2007 and 2008, he served as an Instructor at the Naval War Academy of the Republic of Ecuador’s Navy.  

Promoted to Rear Admiral on March 31, 2016, he assumed the position of Coordinator of the Navy’s Refitting Program and, subsequently, the role of Maintenance Superintendent of the Navy’s Program Management Directorate.

From August 10, 2017, to August 6, 2019, served as Commander of the Surface Force. From August 17, 2019, to March 31, 2020, he served as Chief of Staff of the Naval Operations Command.

Promoted to the rank of Vice-Admiral on March 31, 2020, he held the position of Navy’s Program Management Director from April 2, 2020, to April 26, 2021, responsible for the management of strategic Navy projects related to the procurement and maintenance of naval assets, the implementation and strengthening of life cycle management in the Brazilian Navy and the development of the Blue Amazon Management System – SISGAAZ.

On June 22, 2021, he assumed the position of Chairman of the Council of Delegates of the Inter-American Defense Board.

Vice Admiral Rabello is married to Mrs. ALDORA. The couple has two sons: GABRIEL and FELIPE.
