Emerging Threats
In addition to the traditional threats, the security of the States and the Hemisphere is being affected by the new threats, also known as “Emerging Threats”, that are present in our societies, including terrorism, organized crime, illegal drug trafficking, illicit arms trafficking, corruption, natural disasters, deterioration of the environment, money laundering, as well as all forms of cyber attack.
Attention to the aforementioned issue, the IADB provides advice to the Organization of American States and works to facilitate the exchange of information for member countries, by disseminating events, news and opportunities for training, improvement and cooperation, as well as promoting interaction between member states through seminars and conferences that cover topics such as the role of the Armed Forces in non-traditional tasks, inter-agency and international cooperation in the face of new threats and how to mitigate them.
