Inter-American Defense Board holds conference on Processes for the Management, Security and Destruction of Ammunitions and Explosives

The Inter-American Defense Board (IADB), in coordination with the Secretariat for Multidimensional Security (SSM) of the Organization of American States (OAS) held on August 17th, 2021, the Conference on Processes for the Management , Security and Destruction of Ammunitions and Explosives.

The purpose of the event was to provide technical advice on the management, securing and destruction of arms, ammunition and explosives, disseminating knowledge, regulations, international standards, successful experiences, lessons learned and best practices of the countries of the hemisphere. Similarly, to reaffirm the commitment to comply with the instruments in force with respect to these processes, verifying controls to help prevent armed violence with tools that facilitate the exchange of information.

The event was attended by speakers with extensive experience in the subject, as well as virtual attendance, through the ZOOM platform and the IADB YouTube channel, by more than 800 people from different countries of the Americas and two from Europe. An important detail to mention is that around 180 participants belonging to military training schools gathered in auditoriums and classrooms of their respective training centers, using the projection of the conference through the links provided by the IADB.
