The Inter-American Defense Board (IADB) will host the Critical Infrastructure Protection in Disaster Webinar on December 4th, 2020, from 09:00 am to 02:35 pm (EZT).
The purpose of the event is to exchange knowledge between members of the OAS, the IADB, and other bodies involved in protecting critical infrastructure in the event of disasters.
1. Definition of Critical Infrastructure (CI), main vulnerabilities to disasters, priority of CIs, development of disaster resilience. (OAS, civil experts from Caribbean countries and North and / or South America, preferably civil).
Objective: Identify the main concepts of CI and the considerations for its protection against a disaster.
2. Legal framework for the use of the Armed Forces in the protection of CI in the event of disasters, internal legal tools and international support agreements, trigger mechanism, need for development of complementary capacities, preparation and training cycle.
Objective: Identify the role of the armed forces in the protection of CI in the event of a disaster.
3. Internal or international experiences of real cases of use of the Armed Forces and other means in the Protection of CI: coordination, training and civil-military planning before, during and after the disaster, main lessons learned.
Objective: Identify the actions developed by the Armed Forces and other actors in the protection of CI.
