General Castañeda Nassi was born in Trujillo, Peru, on June 18, 1965.

After completing his secondary studies, in the city of Trujillo, he entered the Military School of Chorrillos as a Cadet, graduating as a Sub-lieutenant of Infantry in 1988. General Castañeda has received several Master’s degrees, including a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the Federico Villarreal University, Master in Public Management from the School of Business Administration and complete studies of Doctorate in Administration from Antenor Orrego University.

Within the military formation of General Castañeda, it is worth highlighting the completion of the Basic, Advanced and Higher Intelligence Courses in the Intelligence School of the Army of Peru. Other prominent are the Advanced Course in International Humanitarian Law at the International Institute of Humanitarian Law in San Remo, Italy and the Strategic Intelligence Course at the School of the National Intelligence Directorate of Peru, among others.

General Castañeda has occupied command positions from the section to the Army General Staff levels. Among the positions he assumed are those of leadership of units engaged in the war against terrorism in Peru. Likewise, within his performance as a member of the General Staff, his appointment as Operations Officer of the Multinational Battalion in the Exercise of Peacekeeping Operations “Cabañas” in Salta, Argentina and Head of the Department of International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights of the Joint Command of the Armed Forces of Peru.

After being promoted to the rank of Major General in 2018, he held the position of Chief of the Army’s Operational Inspector. He assumed the position of Vice Chairman of the Council of Delegates in December 2018.

Throughout his military career and thanks to his outstanding performance, he has received innumerable recognitions, including the National Pacification Belt, the Peruvian Cross of Military Merit in the degree of Knight, the Peruvian Cross of Military Merit in the Officer’s Degree and the Peruvian Cross Military Merit in the rank of Commander.

He is married to Mrs. Flor María Nique Butron, with whom he has 3 children, Carlos Humberto, Claudia Fernanda and Sebastián Alonso.
